Rent a gym in Amsterdam

Dutch gyms usually want a membership, in Dutch, before you can touch a barbell. If you have just arrived, or you only need a proper rack for a few weeks, that arrangement makes no sense at all.

Why rent a gym through PlaceHub?

PlaceHub lists independent gyms you book directly from the owner, through a site that works in English from search to checkout. You see the power racks, the free weights, the cardio machines and the mirrors before you commit, along with whether there are changing rooms and a shower.

There is nothing to sign and no lease to read through in a language you are still learning. You pick an hour, pay online by iDEAL, card or Bancontact, and the confirmation lands in your inbox straight away with everything you need for the day.

Personal trainers get the same deal. Book the hours your client is free for, and a quiet week costs you nothing extra. If you want the same slot every week, book it again each time, or ask the host through the chat whether they can hold it open for you.

Renting a gym in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is expensive, and space here costs more per hour than anywhere else in the country. What you get in return is a city small enough to cross by bike: the ride from the Zuidas to Noord takes about fifteen minutes and includes a free ferry. English is spoken almost everywhere, which is not true of every Dutch city. Book a canal house or a warehouse on the IJ, and your guests will remember the room as clearly as the programme.

The gyms in Amsterdam all show the hourly rate, the facilities and reviews from earlier renters before you book anything.

Frequently asked questions about renting a gym

How much does renting a gym cost?

It depends on the gym: the host sets a single hourly rate, shown on the listing next to the shortest booking they accept. A service fee is added at checkout, and the total is shown before you pay, so there is no membership fee or deposit hiding in the small print.

Do I need to speak Dutch to book or train there?

No. The site itself works in English from search to checkout, you can message the host in English through the chat, and most hosts are used to renting to people who are new to the country.

What equipment is actually in the gym?

Every listing sets it out with photos: racks, free weights, cardio machines, mirrors, and whether there is a changing room. If something specific matters to you, ask the host in the chat before you book rather than finding out on the day.

How do I get in if the gym is unstaffed?

That is something you arrange with the host. Some greet you at the door, others use a key box or a door code, and whichever it is, the access instructions reach you automatically once your booking is confirmed.

How does booking through PlaceHub work?

Find a space, choose a date and time slot, and pay online by iDEAL, card or Bancontact. The confirmation email arrives immediately with the practical details you need, and if the space is set to instant booking, your reservation is final the moment you pay.

Can I cancel my booking?

Yes. How far ahead you get the full amount back depends on the cancellation policy the host chose for that particular space, and that policy is stated on the listing itself. You cancel it yourself from your bookings overview.
